Bled

Bled is a game created by myself, the 2 other co-founders of Grenade Tree Games (JC Santiago and Robert Allen), and 4 other Mt Sierra students and alumni for the 2013 Global Game Jam (an annual ~48 hour game development challenge). It was awarded first place out of the games created at the Mt Sierra College jam site by a panel that included industry professionals. The game is a top-down stealth survival game where players take on the role of Jim, a genetically engineered monster, trying to escape his lab while constantly bleeding out. Getting detected by guards raises Jim's heart rate to make him bleed faster, but he can stealth kill guards and scientists to replenish his blood supply.

The scripting work was split between me and fellow team member Corwin Doerning. Because of the short and sleep-deprived timeframe the game was created in I don't remember all the details of how the workload was split up but I know AI was one of my primary tasks, and some of the other systems I helped with included audio and aspects of sprite animation. This was the first time either of us worked directly with another programmer and we were able to learn from each others' experience from working individually.
